I am an orthopaedic and trauma consultant working since 2015 in the Hip Diseases and Joint Replacement Surgery Unit at Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan. I was appointed Assistant Professor of Locomotor Apparatus Disease and Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine at Humanitas University in 2017. Since 2018, I also serve as Scientific Director at the “Livio Sciutto Foundation”, a non-profit organization aiming to foster research and support education in the field of hip diseases and joint replacement. I strongly believe in the importance of scientific research in the orthopaedic field, and I mean it as a duty to move forward our practice and ensure the best clinical assistance to our patients. At the same time, I totally recognize the value of a high-level training of young orthopaedics, or soon to be, and this is why I committed myself to the education of medical students, trainees and fellows.

It is a tremendous pleasure to be part of EHS SciCom Committee. Just as a brief presentation, my current practice is as Senior Consultant of Hip Surgery Unit, Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology Department at University Hospital Infanta Leonor (Madrid, Spain) which is part of the National Public Health System of Spain. Also do a limited private practice at Hospital La Luz (Madrid, Spain).
My clinical practice is mainly hip surgery that involved hip arthroplasty (primary and revision), hip trauma and hip preserving surgery (arthroscopic and open techniques).
Hip surgery was my passion since I was an Orthopaedic Resident at Hospital Severo Ochoa (Madrid-Spain 1999-2004). I completed my training with several fellowships at Adult Lower Limb Orthopaedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota) in 2003, 2005 and 2013. Rush Presbyterian Hospital (Chicago, IL) in 2005. Hip Preserving Surgery Fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery (New York) in 2013.
I’m involved in different clinical research projects about treatment of young patients with hip problems that requires conservative treatment, hip preserving surgery and hip arthroplasty.
I frequently participate with lectures in hip arthroplasty & preserving surgery at international meetings worldwide. Regarding my scientific publications, I have participated as author/co-author in several publications about hip pathology at international journals and chapters in different hip surgery books (more than 55 international references https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7814-5766 ). Author of the book: “Femoroacetabular Impingement” (Springer publisher). I’m experience in organizing international meetings and cadaver labs.
Finally, I’m available to any EHS member who request my collaboration.

I am excited, proud and looking forward to contribute to the EHS Scientific Committee in the coming years and to support EHS SciCom President Luigi Zagra in organizing EHS scientific meetings and activities. As a researcher dedicated to orthopaedic surgery, much of my work has been on hip pathology with a PhD on metal-on-metal hip arthroplasty. I work from the department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the Anna Hospital in the Netherland with a great team of surgeons, research colleagues and students. Currently my research is focused on e-health for THA patients and I always enjoy the sharing of knowledge seen at the bi-annual EHS congress. I am looking forward to meeting you in person soon!

Olga Pidgaiska
Olga Pidgaiska MD, PhD
EHS EduCom Member, EHS Ambassador and EHS Fellow
I am a 40-year old orthopaedic surgeon, working at the Sytenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology National Ukrainian Academy of Medical Science in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Our establishment is one of the oldest, most influential and outstanding medical academic institutions of Ukraine and Eastern Europe. As Head of the Orthopeadic Arthrology and Arthroplasty Department, specialized in hip and knee replacement and joint arthroscopy, my duties include controlling the clinical work of the entire department. We specialize in reconstructive surgery – mostly hip, knee primary and revision arthroplasties.
In 2014 I defended my first PhD devoted to the reasons and mechanism of stress-shielding and stem choice for primary total hip arthroplasty. Since then, I have been working on a few different topics, such as studying the early stages of the bone regeneration process – specifically the role of fibrin-blood clot; spine-pelvic relationships for spine and joint surgeries (our clinical and biomechanical study was approved last year); inflammatory markers after joint replacement in content of early PJI diagnostics (we have a close cooperation with the Berlin Charite Hospital’s infection disease team). I am quite active internationally, being a member of the world’s outstanding societies, such as EHS, EFORT, AAOS, AAHKS, SICOT. I was one of three delegates from my country chosen to join the International Consensus PJI Meeting in Philadelphia, 2018. On our initiative, we translated a consensus book into the Ukrainian language and widely introduced it throughout our country. I have been granted many fellowships throughout Europe and the USA, and was EHS Travelling Fellow through Hellas. Last year I became the EHS Ambassador from Ukraine.
I hope I can be a helpful, useful and effective new member of the EHS Education Committee to benefit the future of our society, as well as our orthopaedic community at large, and of course my own continued career development.

Klaus Siebenrock
President EHS 2021-2023
On the occasion of this year’s Congress of the European Hip Society (EHS) in Lille on September 10-11, 2021, Prof. Klaus A. Siebenrock, MD, proudly accepted the presidency of the European Hip Society for the next two years.
As the president of this prestigious society, Prof. Siebenrock’s goals are twofold: first, to bundle European scientific knowledge and promote academic work in the field of hip and pelvic disease and treatment in Europe, as well as to make it more visible throughout the world. Second, the education and training of young hip surgeons must be intensified. This should be done through fellowships at renowned European hip centers, structured educational courses and common educational content in the future.

Jean-Alain Epinette
President of EHS
This EHS story becomes a long story from my side… I participated in this Society from the very first day and namely gave a lecture at the first congress in Heraklion in 1994. Since that time, I have been committed for many lectures and symposia along with numerous EHS members who are for most of them very good friends of mine worldwide…
My involvement in Hip matters has been strong for years, as my surgical practice has been exclusively devoted to hip and knee replacements for more than 25 years!… Moreover, I have been from the first day a member of the SFHG (Hip and Knee French Society, as a partner of the SOFCOT society), and have been its vice president (2011-2013), then president (203-2015). I am currently within this Society the past president, member of the Board, and at the same time the webmaster of the www.sfhg.fr web site. I am also in charge of several observational registries within the SFHG scientific committee (resurfacing, Dual mobility cups, short stems). I am fully involved in the area of hydroxyapatite coatings in arthroplasty, unicompartmental knee replacement, highly-crossed linked polyethylene matters, and hip mobile bearings outcomes. I have participated in numerous books and publications, including several books as editor.
My second major activity regards Computerized and Outcomes Studies in Orthopaedics. I am the founder and CEO of the ARIA Ltd Company, devoted to developments of software suites, monitored clinical studies and consulting matters in Orthopaedics. Within the frame of ARIA, I have founded in 1991 the Orthopaedic Research and Imaging Centre in Arthroplasty (CRDA), located in Bruay-France, and on the other hand since 1996 the OrthoWave software suite, devoted to Outcomes Studies and Evaluation in Arthroplasties which currently features a web-base online
program as a “cloud computing” worldwide system.
I am based in France, and speak English fluently.
