Jean-Alain Epinette
President of EHS

This EHS story becomes a long story from my side… I participated in this Society from the very first day and namely gave a lecture at the first congress in Heraklion in 1994. Since that time, I have been committed for many lectures and symposia along with numerous EHS members who are for most of them very good friends of mine worldwide…
My involvement in Hip matters has been strong for years, as my surgical practice has been exclusively devoted to hip and knee replacements for more than 25 years!… Moreover, I have been from the first day a member of the SFHG (Hip and Knee French Society, as a partner of the SOFCOT society), and have been its vice president (2011-2013), then president (203-2015). I am currently within this Society the past president, member of the Board, and at the same time the webmaster of the www.sfhg.fr web site. I am also in charge of several observational registries within the SFHG scientific committee (resurfacing, Dual mobility cups, short stems). I am fully involved in the area of hydroxyapatite coatings in arthroplasty, unicompartmental knee replacement, highly-crossed linked polyethylene matters, and hip mobile bearings outcomes. I have participated in numerous books and publications, including several books as editor.
My second major activity regards Computerized and Outcomes Studies in Orthopaedics. I am the founder and CEO of the ARIA Ltd Company, devoted to developments of software suites, monitored clinical studies and consulting matters in Orthopaedics. Within the frame of ARIA, I have founded in 1991 the Orthopaedic Research and Imaging Centre in Arthroplasty (CRDA), located in Bruay-France, and on the other hand since 1996 the OrthoWave software suite, devoted to Outcomes Studies and Evaluation in Arthroplasties which currently features a web-base online
program as a “cloud computing” worldwide system.
I am based in France, and speak English fluently.

Wim Schreurs
Wim Schreurs

Prof Berend Willem Schreurs, The Netherlands
Past President of EHS
Prof Schreurs has been involved in EHS from 2007 onwards, first as the National Representative for the Netherlands. ln 2012 he joined the Scientific Committee of the EHS.
During his Presidency (2016-18), he continued the focus of our Society to enlarge our influence on hip joint care around Europe, and we now send EHS speakers to National Society Meetings and co-organise several hip meetings throughout Europe. Also, as a Society, he found methods to also bind our younger colleagues from the so called e-generation with an interest in hip surgery to our Society. The EHS Fellowships offer four upcoming hip surgeons a year the chance to improve their knowledge immensely and learn directly from Europe’s top hip centres and skilled surgeons. The 13th EHS Congress in The Hague (20-22 September 2018) was a great success with over 750 orthopaedic surgeons participating literally from all over the world. Also more than 180 Dutch participants were registered.
ln the Netherlands he has been active in several committees, e.g. President of the Scientific Committee of the Dutch Orthopedic Association, member of several steering groups of that society around the hip joint, and contributed to the National Dutch guide line on total hip prosthesis. Recently, he has been appointed as the President of the Scientific Committee of the Dutch Arthroplasty Registry.
He was appointed to the academic rank of Professor, with the teaching and research remit Registration of orthopedic implants, in January 2019, at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
