Dear EHS Members,
The Hip Surgery Masterclass Webinar Series is our new 24-session educational venture with the British Hip Society, the British Orthopaedic Association and the Bone and Joint Journal — an exciting initiative we’ve designed to support the next generation of hip surgeons. It brings together an outstanding international faculty to explore real-world complex cases through interactive discussion, debate and evidence-based decision-making and is not to be missed. From Thursday 10th September 2026 @ 20:45 CET, you can join us every fortnight for the series to glean expert insights and practical guidance. This is what EHS is all about, so spread the word to the trainees, fellows and early-career consultants in your hospitals and ortho networks.
EHS Members can enjoy Early Bird Pricing now HERE.
Over the summer we encourage members to submit abstracts for Endoprothetikkongress Berlin (EKB 2027) in February. The deadline for abstracts is 1st September and instructions are HERE. In Mid September the call for papers will open from WAC (World Arthroplasty Congress), taking place in Brussels, Belgium (22-23rd April 2027). EHS is a partner society so I hope you will all send your abstracts in.

In July, the cadence of meetings fortunately slowed down a little allowing some time in the UK to catch up on academic and strategic work. I did however attend the Annual Meeting of the Society for Robotic Surgery in Miami. I presented in an excellent orthopaedic program put together by Dr Martin Roche and had the opportunity to interface with robotic surgeons from other specialties. The scope for robotics and AI beyond surgery was also clear with a vast array of innovations that will enhance clinical care in future.
Looking ahead, next year I will be honoured to represent EHS with Mr Andrew Manktelow at the 57th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Replacement Arthroplasty in Fukuoka.
Welcome to Prof Sebastian Hardt of Charite in Berlin, who is our New Nat Rep for Germany, as well as to new full members Dr Kris Goavers (Belgium) and Dr Arman Vahabi (Turkiye), and two new young members Dr Bayram Ali Kavalci (Turkiye) and Dr George Prelorentzos (Greece).
I hope you all have a rejuvenating summer break.
With best wishes,
Prof Fares Haddad
