Our Fellowships

Supporting the next generation of hip surgeons is one of the European Hip Society’s core missions. Through our fellowship programme, we provide outstanding early-career orthopaedic surgeons with opportunities to visit leading hip centres, observe a wide range of surgical techniques, exchange ideas with internationally recognised experts, and build lifelong professional networks.

EHS Fellowships

The European Hip Society awards two EHS Fellowships twice each year (Spring and Autumn).

Each fellowship lasts 2–3 weeks and includes a €3,000 educational grant to help cover travel and accommodation expenses.

Applicants must:

• Be within five years of completing orthopaedic specialist training (career breaks are taken into consideration).
• Be a current active member of the European Hip Society.
• Be based in Europe.
• Demonstrate academic potential and a strong commitment to advancing knowledge in hip surgery.

The two Fellows are selected by the EHS EduCom and ExCom and will enjoy free EHS membership for a year, as well as waivered registration at our EHS Congress.

EHS Bridge Fellowship

Launching SOON! The EHS Bridge Fellowship is a flexible educational initiative that connects EHS members with experienced host centres across Europe for focused observational visits. Unlike the Society’s funded fellowships, the Bridge Fellowship does not include financial support, allowing members to arrange shorter educational placements throughout the year according to their learning interests and the availability of participating host institutions.

JSRA–EHS Fellowship

Launching SOON! The JSRA–EHS Fellowship is an international exchange programme between the European Hip Society (EHS) and the Japanese Society for Replacement Arthroplasty (JSRA). The fellowship strengthens collaboration between Europe and Japan by providing opportunities for young hip surgeons to visit leading centres, share knowledge and develop lasting international professional relationships.

The programme awards two fellowships each year, alternating between opportunities for EHS Fellows to visit Europe or Japan and reciprocal visits for JSRA Fellows to European host centres.
