Dear EHS Members,
Heatwaves across Europe have not slowed down the organisation of hip events in the ortho world and we have plenty of great events to mark in your diary.
But first a summary of June. The Magna Graecia summer school by FORTE welcomed residents to Catanzaro in the toe of Southern Italy, a beautiful location to relax after intense learning. Residents from far and wide readied for their specialist exams with the hope of a cool ice cream and a dip in the Ionian to keep them going. I was among 50 international faculty and EBOT examiners, including our SciCom chairman, Prof Luigi Zagra. EHS was very well hosted.
Before I headed to San Francisco for the closed meeting of the International Knee Society, I headed to Rochester for the IOEN Revision Course and attended the prestigious Mayo Clinic Orthopaedic Grand Rounds. It was super to catch up with Prof Matt Abdel and the outstanding Mayo Clinic Rochester faculty. Prof Abdel will be our Presidential Guest Speaker at the 17th EHS Congress in London (7-8th October 2027), as you can see on our EHS congress website HERE.
Big news from EHS this month is the launch of The Hip Surgery Masterclass, our 24-session webinar series with BHS starting in September. Created to address the gap in structured educational opportunities during the formative stage of our early career as we become independent consultants, it is aimed at senior trainees, post-CCT fellows and early-career consultants. It will also interest established consultants ready to consolidate their approach to complex hips. This is not a lecture series! International top names will focus on real (difficult) cases and evidence for decision making, showing how they think, plan and operate. We hope to build confidence, improve decision-making and support the development of our next generation of complex hip surgeons.
Early Bird registration is open now with a discount for EHS members. More info HERE.

Running parallel is our free EHS 2026 DEBATE SERIES, next week tackling: Dual Mobility for Everyone: Modern Revolution or Lazy Fix for Instability? Join our moderator, Prof Cecile Batailler (EHS Early Careers committee), on Monday 13th July @ 19:00 CET, presenting Dr Alberto Fioruzzi (Italy) and Prof Craig J Della Valle (USA) for, and Prof Richard Field (UK) and Prof Ran Schwarzkopf (USA) against. Join us as two world-class teams debate one of the hottest topics in modern hip arthroplasty. Register now HERE.
Finally, our third webinar project is a collaboration with Endoprosthetics Working Group (AE) and the German Arthroplasty Society (GAS) on Instability after THA on 23rd September @ 20:00-21:30 CET. Register HERE.

For face-to-face meetings, September means Stockholm, and I am really looking forward to our combined closed meeting with colleagues from The Hip Society (3-5th), who for the first time are coming to Europe to combine their meeting with EHS and the Swedish Arthroplasty Association.

In October is ISHA in Bruges, Belgium (8-10th) and then we’re all off to Berlin (20-23rd) for DKOU (German Congress of Ortho and Trauma), where EHS will have its usual session and booth. Registration is now open HERE.
As you know, EHS is an organising society of the World Arthroplasty Congress (WAC) in Brussels, Belgium, (22 –23rd April 2027) and will open abstract submission mid September, so don’t leave it to the last minute.
