Happy New Year
Dear Members of the EHS,
Huge congratulations go to Prof Eleftherios Tsiridis, EHS President, for the success of the 10th Masterclass in Arthroplasty Surgery Thessaloniki (MAST), an EHS co-organised course that attracted over 300 delegates. The report will follow.
We are delighted to introduce our new member to the EHS EduCom, Prof Anthony Viste (France), and thank the other candidates. We warmly welcome two new Full Members: Dr Betisor is our first member from Moldova and from Spain, Dr Galves. From Bulgaria we are pleased to meet two new Young Members Dr Luchev and Dr Lukanov.
Congratulations on the two EHS Travelling Fellows who will visit Denmark in Spring 2024: Dr Jetse Jelsma from The Netherlands and Dr Corine Zurmühle from Switzerland. Thanks to all our many applicants.
In the New Year, we’re looking forward to two hip events in Madrid with EHS collaboration:-
- 5th Combined Meeting EHS & SECCA (Spanish Hip Society) 8th March 2024 with EHS Patronage
- WAC (World Arthroplasty Congress) 18-19th April: submit abstracts by 15th January 2024
I hope many members will submit papers to the JCM Special Issue: State of the Art in Hip Replacement Surgery, guest edited by our members Dr Steffen Brodt and colleagues. More info HERE.
Personally, I am happy to announce my appointment as Director of Orthopaedics at the Sytenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology in Kharkiv, Ukraine. More about the centre can be found HERE. Throughout the next two years, my projects will be:-
- to create a scientific and educational partnership between EHS and my institute in all aspects of hip joint preservation surgery, primary and revision THA, biomaterials and new technologies
- to provide learning opportunities at the Sytenko Institute, which will be a base for educational activities for EHS members, eapecially focusing on younger surgeons
- to offer fellowships for European doctors specialiszing in hip surgery at the Sytenko Institute
