3 Report of President

Prof Siebert welcomes all to Munich.

4 Report of President Elect

Dr Schreurs talks about EHS 13th Congress 20-22 Sept 2018 in The Hague. Very big conference centre there. Very close to the airport.

5 Report of Past President

Prof Ullmark thanks Drs Zagra and Krismer for the success and growth of our society. The goal of EHS is to spread knowledge and skills and build contacts. EHS is now represented worldwide; our expert speakers travel to national orthopaedic centres. Scientific Committee and Educational Committee engagement is being intensified, with top class scientific programmes at our own congresses.

6 Report of the Treasurer

Prof Karachalios shows a PP * including a brief summary of EHS Bank Account history.

EHS Greek account:           €13,970

EHS Austrian account:      €506,520

Total balance today =        €554,285

EFORT has paid!

EHS has reduced its expenses a lot. Reduced secretarial service – secretary costs much less and the Skype meetings save on travel expenses of ExCom.

EHS can now support Travelling Fellowships and research/teaching activities.

7 Financial reports Sept 2014 – August 2016

Approved. Profs Siebert/Pipino were very involved in the whole process; everything is absolutely correct and all are very pleased. Huge raise of hands (vast majority) to approve finances.

It is noted that care will be taken to maintain the non-profit status of EHS (extensively discussed in the ExCom) through Fellowships and sending EHS speakers around the world.

8 Report of General Secretary

Prof Tsiridis shows a PP *.

Retirement among Nat Reps means: France from Dr Tabutin to Dr Epinette; The Netherlands from Dr Schreurs to Dr Vehmeijer; Spain from Dr Garcia-Cimbrelo to Prof José Cordero-Ampuero.

Proposal of the ExCom to formally dissolve the Website Committee. New website (www.europeanhipsociety.com) is controlled directly by Sec Gen’s office, no extra cost. It is modern and very low cost.

Paypal is implemented for paying membership dues for 2017 from website.

Special thanks to Dr Eduardo Garcia-Cimbrelo, a pillar of EHS who we hope will continue to be so, we are very proud of him as he retires. Welcome to New Nat Rep, Prof José Cordero-Ampuero.

Thanks to Dr Jacques Tabutin, who retires as Nat Rep of France. Welcome to Dr Jean Alain Epinette who takes over. Welcome to new Nat Rep for Switzerland, Prof Klaus Siebenrock, and for The Netherlands, Dr Stephan Vehmeijer.

Our finances are strong. Skype saves the ExCom a lot of money; we communicate almost every month. We will also meet once a year starting from this year too, for face to face.

EHS Visiting Fellows: Dr Olga Pidgaiska and Mr Sujith Konan from UK.

EHS Travelling Fellowship has launched too. Thanks to Prof Ullmark for all your help and hard work.

Hip Int’l is doing very well – the highest ever impact factor of the journal (0.889) for articles published in 2015 (its 25th year). This was an increase from 0.756 in 2014. Thanks to Prof Karachalios and Mr Baker, the two editors in chief, as well as all the authors, reviewers and editors. (Submissions: 500+ this year.)

Please be active and participate in our activities.

NORE – EHS will be involved.

9 New regulations for orthopaedics in Europe

Dr Schreurs. There will be new regulations about implants in Europe, based on EU rules. EHS wants to become one of the advisory societies and needs to explore the requirements to fulfil.

10 Report of Chairman of the EduCom

Prof Ullmark. Fellowships have begun. The first two EHS Visiting Fellows will visit Greece in Novembers this year. Applications for the first Travelling Fellowship 2017 are being collected. EHS covers cost of travel etc., with a lump sum.

Prof Ullmark (pictured below) is glad to continue with EHS as Chairman of EduCom. He thanks everyone.

11 Report of Chairman of the SciCom

Prof Karachalios speaks on reinvigoration of SciCom. A new chairman has been elected: Prof Luigi Zagra.

Dr Zagra: Thanks all for his election, he was surprised and is pleased to do it. SciCom will be re-organised and is open for comments. If anyone wants to work in SciCom, please apply through the Secretary General.

12 Approval of New Structure for SciCom & EduCom

Dr Macheras points out that many members of SciCom have not been active – who decides on new members? What are the rules? How does one apply?

Dr Schreurs: we will take our bylaws and work on this to make it more clear in the future.

Prof Siebert: EHS is a living society and will modernise and improve. It is already doing so.

13 Election of Secretary General Sept 2016-2020

One Candidate: Eleftherios Tsiridis. All agree to open vote: huge raise of hands; possibly unanimous.

Congratulations to Prof Tsiridis.

14 Mid-Term Election of Treasurer

Prof Karachalios will continue for two more years and we will vote in a new Treasurer in 2018. Hopefully Prof Thaler, a new member from Austria, will help him and will be a candidate in 2018. All agree.

15 Election for President 2018-20

One candidate: Dr Jean Alain Epinetter (France) (pictured below).

All agree to open vote: huge raise of hands; possibly unanimous.

Prof Siebert: An excellent candidate; a great scientist and a good chap.

Dr Epinette: my proposal is 14th EHS Congress in Lille. See PowerPoint*.

Handover of EHS medal takes place (pictured below: (left) Dr Schreurs, EHS President 2016-18, (right) Prof Siebert EHS Past President).

16 Miscellaneous

Dr Macheras wants more time for GA due to burning issues in future. Write down the rules. Follow the example of EFORT. Dr Schreurs takes his point.

*(PowerPoints are available on request)
