September 2026 Newsletter

Dear EHS Members,

September is a busy month of EHS webinars for our members, so your relaxing summer evenings will now be replaced with top education opportunities! We offer you two sessions of the The Hip Surgery Masterclass (10th and 17th), our third episode of EHS Live Debate on Robotics (16th) and our one-off collaborative Webinar on Instability after THA with German colleagues from the Endoprosthetics Working Group & the German Arthroplasty Society (23rd).

I will introduce the The Hip Surgery Masterclass series before handing over to Prof Xavier Griffin, Mr Jeya Palan, Prof Lorenz Buchler and Prof Bulent Atilla for our launch topic: Neck of Femur and Head Fractures. We are delighted to present the full 24-session programme below (scroll down). Huge thanks to Mr Mathew Kennedy, Mr Ian Kennedy and Prof Dominic Meek, who have put in a great deal of work over the past year setting this up.

Also in mid-September, the call for papers will open for EFORT’s Annual Congress in Athens, Greece (19th-21st May 2027) and the World Arthroplasty Congress (WAC) in Brussels, Belgium (22nd-23rd April 2027).

The past month has been less frenetic academically but has included trips to Denver and New York and the final build up to our collaboration with The Hip Society and the Swedish Arthroplasty Association in Stockholm later this week.

In November six EHS speakers will venture farther afield to disseminate hip surgery excellence – all the way to Hua Hin in Thailand, where EHS is honoured to be an international partner of the 28th Annual Meeting of the Thai Hip and Knee Society (themed: High Performance Arthroplasty), along with the Korean Hip Society 19th-21st November. Prof Luigi Zagra (EHS SciCom Chairman) will lead, along with Mr Andrew Manktelow (Vice-Chair), Prof Carsten Perka (EHS President Elect), Prof Eleftherios Tsiridis (Past President), Dr George Macheras (Past President) and Prof Robert Hube.

Closer to home and further ahead, EHS is delighted to accept the offer from SOFCOT’s President Jean-Noel Argenson to be among the international partners at their Annual Congress in Paris next year (8th-10th November 2027). We will plan an excellent EHS-SOFCOT symposium.

Welcome to two new Young Members this month: Dr Doria Juric from Switzerland and Dr Konstantinos Chaniotakis from Greece. And look out for our call for applicants to our springtime two-week EHS Fellowship 2027 in October’s newsletter.

Greatly look forward to seeing some of you in Stockholm soon, and many others through the busy autumn academic programme.

With best wishes,

Prof Fares Haddad
EHS President 2025-2027
