Osteotomies Around the Hip – Hands On Cadaver Course at Nova Medical School, Lisbon

Dear EHS Members,

This practical course covered femoral and pelvic osteotomies from childhood to adulthood and involved orthopaedic surgeons and paediatric orthopaedic surgeons.

Two days of sharing knowledge, tips and tricks and practical skills on hip preservation with 16 participants from Portugal, Switzerland, Italy and Poland, networking and visiting sunny Lisbon.

In the cadaver lab the participants had the opportunity to perform a surgical hip dislocation, a femoral intertrochanteric osteotomy and a periacetabular osteotomy. We also had a sawbones session where the participants could execute pelvic and femoral osteotomies on paediatric sawbones.

We would like to thank Nova University and Ahead for the organization, our faculty for the expertise shared and send a special thank you to the European Hip Society and the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society for their support and acknowledgement.

Kind Regards,

Dr Pedro Dantas, Nat Rep for Portugal
