Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Among all congresses held here and there as National or International meetings, in addition to events organized by the Industry, our European Hip Society aims to be seen as an absolute reference in Hip Surgery areas. In such a way, EHS would be a perfect link between all Hip devoted meetings, as well as between us and Knee and Spine organizations.

In fact, EHS gets more and more often addressed to participate in several international meetings as EFORT, ICRJ or WAC in particular, as well as in National Congresses all around European countries or overseas. We are more than happy to participate here and there as partners or attendants, depending on the previous terms of agreement between EHS and the hosting organization. Hence, we are finalizing the conditions of such agreements, and namely the potential addition of EHS logo on official documents, number of invited EHS representatives, EHS booth, number and timing of EHS slots within the agenda…

In line with these targets, the newly defined statute of EHS Ambassadors is extremely important: Would you like to report on your works and researches at the best congresses, being proudly supported by EHS?…  Hence do not hesitate to apply for becoming one of our ambassadors, aside members of Scientific and Educational Committees. Simply you need to be an active EHS member, and in such a case, please send to our Secretariat (samstokesehs@gmail.com) a mail including your CV and favourite topics and lectures to propose. Your application will be checked accordingly for you getting included in the “EHS Hall of Fame”!…

On the other hand, we are actively working on the next EHS International Congress to be held at Lille in 2020… The program has been already set up with very exciting topics, symposia and round tables. Details will be displayed very soon through the EHS Lille 2020 web site, including the first call of abstracts and early bird registration modalities. More to see!…

Very best wishes on behalf on the entire EHS Board!

Sit tibi terra levis

This brief note is a remembrance of Doctor Luigi Rizzi, an orthopedic surgeon who passed away in Bergamo on February 6, 2019 at the age of 56. I would like to share a few thoughts that are not in his biography.

I met Luigi in early 2000. I immediately realized he was a cultured and curious man, with an extraordinary passion for surgery. He was my invaluable collaborator for over 15 years. We shared an approach to surgery that combined (indeed must combine) technical excellence with aesthetics. He had a great love, respect and amazement for the beauty of human anatomy. This made him an excellent surgeon. Devoting himself to pelvic and hip surgery as a specialty, he worked with two great experts of which he was very proud: Joel Matta and Reinhold Ganz.

The disease was as short as it was brutal. He fought bravely and boldly, and then with acceptance and great dignity. He leaves his wife Alessandra and children Filippo 16, Ludovico 14.
