Training Experience

The fellowship programme is tailored to the individual educational objectives and level of experience of each fellow, providing comprehensive exposure to the full spectrum of adult reconstruction and arthroplasty procedures performed within the department. Fellows rotate among experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeons, allowing them to gain insight into different surgical techniques, clinical decision-making and perioperative management. Subject to hospital regulations, fellows are encouraged to observe and participate in outpatient clinics, daily ward rounds, operating theatre sessions and multidisciplinary discussions, with opportunities to scrub in and assist during surgical procedures.

Research Opportunities

Fellows may have the opportunity to engage in the academic activities of the department, including participation in ongoing clinical research projects, multidisciplinary research meetings and collaborative studies. Depending on the duration of the visit and the host centre’s current activities, opportunities may also be available to contribute to clinical databases, prepare scientific presentations or manuscripts, and participate in publications. The extent of research involvement will vary according to the fellow’s interests, experience and the educational programme agreed with the host centre.
