Dear EHS Members,
Another busy month ahead starting with the AAOS meeting in New Orleans and ending with the 50th Anniversary of the International Hip Society in Melbourne.
In the interim, London will welcome many of you this month as the hip community heads to Olympia for the British Hip Society’s annual congress, where EHS is honored to be Guest Society. We will have the opportunity to experience the early vibe of this historic and iconic venue since its latest renovation, ready for our 17th EHS Congress London there next year (7-8th October 2027).
The Bern Hip Symposium and SECCA were both successfully run with EHS support last month and I spoke at the latter on: Robotic THA – the evidence and future direction, Spinopelvic alignment simplified, Acetabular Reconstruction: algorithm
and finally A patient centered approach to periprosthetic infection. Reports will follow. In Dublin I attended the Charter Royal College Meeting to speak on research and publishing, and the JSRA meeting in Japan to speak on Technology in Arthroplasty and on how to optimize research. I also had the privilege to chair an outstanding session on women in Orthopaedics.
In June EHS is supporting the ESSKA Hip Cadaveric Course in Istanbul, Turkiye and 9th FORTE Magna Graecia Summer School in Catanzaro, Italy (which I will be attending to contribute on Hip approaches and the management of complexity). In July we support the Porto Hip Meeting 2026 in Portugal. All events are on our Hip Calendar HERE.
A reminder for established consultants to submit abstracts for the Stockholm combined meeting with The Hip Society in September. Deadline is 1st April and we keenly await your submissions. (Click here.) Our new member Prof Michael M Morlock, Director of the Hamburg Research Centre of Medical Technology at Hamburg University of Technology, also invites abstracts for the ISTA congress in September in Munich. (Scroll down to see.)
Our newly established EHS Emerging Leaders Committee was tasked with creating the EHS Webinar Series for 2026, and they’ve done a fantastic job. Syed Ahmed introduces the topics and schedule below.
Thanks to all our applicants for the EHS Fellowship to Switzerland 2026, taking place in the Autumn. The EduCom will now scrutinize the documents and the two winners will be announced next month.

EHS 2026 LIVE DEBATE SERIES
Live Evening Webinars | 19:00 CET
27 May | 8 July | 16 Sep | 26 Nov 2026
Dear Members of the European Hip Society,
At the invitation of Prof Fares Haddad, President of EHS, and the Emerging Leaders Committee, I am delighted to introduce a new EHS Live Debate Series for 2026. This initiative will bring together leading voices from across Europe and beyond for four focused, high-energy online debates addressing some of the most contentious issues in modern hip surgery. Moving beyond traditional lectures, each session will follow a structured 2-vs-2 format, moderated and case-based, with live audience polling to encourage genuine interaction and open discussion.
Our aim is not simply to present data, but to challenge assumptions, examine evidence critically, and create a forum where differing perspectives can be explored in a collegiate but rigorous manner. Topics will include cementless fixation in the elderly, dual mobility, robotics in arthroplasty, and the management of the young adult hip (see below). We hope this series will become a dynamic and thought-provoking addition to the Society’s educational programme, and we very much look forward to your participation.
With kind regards,
Syed Ahmed
