Dear EHS Members,
Next month we launch our EHS Debate Series 2026, and will run four free webinars open to all. I will be moderating the first debate: Cementless in the Elderly: Evidence-Based Practice or Industry-Driven Madness? on 27th May 2026 @ 19:00-20:00 CET. Register HERE.
Our EHS leadership was very well represented at the prestigious International Hip Society closed meeting in Melbourne, Australia, last week, with both myself and Prof Carsten Perka (EHS President Elect) on the executive.
EHS was honored to be Guest Society in London at the British Hip Society’s congress last month – thanks to outgoing President Matt Wilson and the BHS team for a great event (some photos below).
We are also delighted to be chosen as Guest Society for the prestigious Lyon Hip Arthroplasty meeting next year (23rd-24th September 2027).
We are looking forward to EFORT in Malaga, Spain, where EHS is recognized as a “Specialty Society” as usual. Join us on Wednesday 6th May @ 11:00 – 12:00 CET for our EHS session on The Sport Patient with HIP OA. Chairs are myself and Prof Carsten Perka, and topics are:-
- The Role of Regenerative treatments and Hip Preservation Tobias Winkler
- Resurfacing in 2026- who, when, why and where is the data Andrew Manktelow
- Enhanced technologies including robotics Cecille Batailler
- Short stems. who, when, why and where is the data Kevin Staats
- Custom stems: who, when, why and where is the data? Elhadi Sari-Ali

Everyone has now received their invoice for 2026 EHS Membership fees payments and thanks to all who have settled already. Anyone whose fees remain unpaid later than 1st May may have their membership revoked, as stated in our constitution.
Speaking of which, we are currently refreshing the EHS byelaws, which will be approved at our General Assembly in Malaga during EFORT. An email invitation to all members will follow.

We hope you are enjoying our new EHS website, with a larger member’s area, hoping to connect our community even further. It includes an interactive map of our members, as well as an area to build up your profile if you wish.
Calls for Abstracts are out from ISTA Congress (September) in Munich, Germany and the Portuguese Society of Ortho & Trauma Congress (November) in the Algarve. EHS gives patronage this month to the Barcelona Hip Meeting, in May to Current Concepts in Total Knee & Hip Arthroplasty in Bukovel, Ukraine, in June the FORTE Summer School in Catanzaro, Italy, in September the new Femoral Fragility Trauma Masterclass in Birmingham, UK (this will alternate each year between Bern and Birmingham), in October to the Osteotomies Around the Hip course in Lisboa, Portugal and in November the Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology Congress.
