Dear EHS Members,

Dear EHS Members,

We step into the year of our 16th EHS Congress, taking place on 16-17th October. Our esteemed faculty has been invited and soon the speakers will be called upon to create their presentations. Our scientific programme has been collaboratively created with the EHS SciCom and boasts some excellent cross fires and round tables arranged within our core themes of Primary, Technology, Revision, Fracture & Complication and Preservation. As always we leave plenty of time for discussion.

We call on each and every EHS member to help make this congress a great success, so if you have contacts with the reps of European industry sponsors, please email me as soon as possible to make an introduction and ensure their company will have a prominent booth in Thessaloniki. Thank you.

Last year was a great year for EHS, as we welcomed over 45 new members from almost 20 countries (see below), bringing us to 520 members. We ran two Fellowships, one to Denmark and the other to Ireland – the reports make for a great read. Our EHS Webinar series was a success gaining thousands of views and can be enjoyed (for free) through our replays HERE. And finally, we supported 18 courses, giving patronage, sending speakers and/or co-organising. These included:-

  • Lisbon, Portugal: 2nd Orthopaedics: Osteotomies around the Hip course (15-16.11)
  • Algarve: Portuguese Ortho & Trauma Society (SPOT) (6-9.11)
  • Rome, Italy: Symposium @ Congress of Italian Ortho & Traumatology Society (SIOT) (29-31.10)
  • Thessaloniki, Greece: MAST 11 (Masterclass In Arthroplasty Surgery Thessaloniki) (18-19.10)
  • Thessaloniki, Greece: Hellenic Ortho & Trauma Society’s 80th annual meeting (17-19.10)
  • Stockholm: Swedish Hip & Knee Society congress (17-18.10)
  • Bilbao, Spain: New Technologies in THA & TKA (10-11.10)
  • Borovetz: Bulgarian Orthopaedic & Traumatology Association Congress (BOTA) (28.9)
  • Barcelona, Spain: Update in Anterior Approach for Total Hip Arthroplasty (19-20.9)
  • Oporto, Portugal: The Porto International Hip Meeting (31.5 – 1.6)
  • Split, Croatia: 7th FORTE (17-21.6)
  • Toulouse, France: PCO (Practical Course Orthopedics) (5-7.6)
  • Madrid, Spain: 5th Combined Meeting EHS & Spanish Hip Society (SECCA) (8.3)
  • Kharkiv, Ukraine: Complications & Mistakes in Total Joint Arthroplasty: Prevention & Management (23.2)

Plus we collaborated in the organisation of the 4th World Arthroplasty Congress (WAC) in Madrid, Spain in April and were a Speciality Society as usual at the annual EFORT congress in Hamburg in May.

With the excellent support of our EHS ExCom, SciCom, EduCom and Nat Reps, I have no doubt 2025 will be even better as EHS goes from strength to strength. Thank you to everyone who gives up their valuable time to help the success of our 32-year old non-profit organisation with the shared mission to improve hip surgery in Europe and across the world.

I look forward to working with you all to make our 16th EHS Congress 2025 in Thessaloniki a strong success.

Happy New Year for 2025 with healthy, happy hips!

Best regards,
