Dear EHS Members,

In a few days I will welcome many of you to my hometown of Bern, where I am delighted to host the 15th EHS Congress. I would like to thank all the committees of EHS for their invaluable input in helping to organise this fantastic scientific hip meeting: the ExCom, SciCom, EduCom and Nat Reps, as well as our diligent congress organisers at Intercongress.

Our guest nation is Japan and we are excited to introduce in person at the Kursaal congress venue two internationally renowned hip surgeons, Dr Hiroshi Fujita (Director of Center for Hip & Knee Arthroplasty at Rakuyo Hospital in Kyoto) and Prof Yasuharu Nakashima (from Kyushu University & involved in Japan’s national registry of orthopaedic surgery), who will present to us from the podium @ 17:25 – 18:10 on Thursday 12th October. Following this, the General Assembly will take place at 18:20 – please access the Agenda HERE.

It has been an honour to be the President of our prestigious hip society, EHS, since our Congress in Lille. We have welcomed over 60 new members to EHS in the past two years and there’s just time before I go to warmly welcome three more: Full Members Dr Marc Attinger (Switzerland) & Mr Ahmed Magan (UK), and International Member Dr Abdullah Alfaraj (Kuwait).

We have also refreshed all our committees to include new faces and active members, including five new Nat Reps for France, Greece, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkiye, as well as four new members each to the EduCom and SciCom. As I step down, I look forward to continue helping the society continue to grow from strength to strength and to inspire young hip surgeons around the world.

And finally, please join the discussion at the EHS Free Webinar # 7 on 21st November 2023 @ 19:30-20:30 CET with the topic: Hip arthroscopy and femoro-acetabular impingement. I will be talking on “Open surgery for FAI – where are we today?” and will be joined by Dr Olga Pidgaiska, presenting “Femoro-acetabular impingement: diagnostics, indications for treatment” and Assoc Prof Mattia Loppini, presenting “Arthroscopic management of FAI”.

Best regards,

Prof Klaus Siebenrock
EHS President 2021-2023
