The EHS co-organised Masterclass in Arthroplasty Surgery Thessaloniki (MAST) ran for the 9th consecutive year, from 16th – 18th December 2022.
The MAST Founder and President, Prof Eleftherios Tsiridis (EHS President Elect), invited his worldwide orthopaedic peers to bring their professional perspectives from Argentina, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, UK, USA and of course Greece. USA alone had teams from Stanford (California), Mayo Clinic (Minnesota), Rush (Chicago) and NYU Langone (New York).
This vibrant international faculty offered invaluable insights into orthopaedic technicalities for joint arthroplasty and revision by presenting their best research data of the year and showing video surgeries on the topic “Advances in Arthroplasty – What’s new in complex adult reconstruction & new technologies?”.
As always at MAST, there was a competitive spirit. At MAST 8, the Ortho Olympics were held. At MAST 9, the esteemed faculty battled it out in teams to win the “Aristotle MAST Award 2022” prize, with the most senior presenter of the winning team being named Visiting Professor by the Dean of the Aristotle University Medical School of Thessaloniki. Also, the inaugural “MAST “Endoxa” Consensus Report” was established, which will lead to a multi-centre publication.
Attendees experienced exciting presentations and big debates throughout Friday and Saturday, while Sunday was dedicated to the popular hands on workshops. The course was hybrid and delegates could register to join from anywhere.
