We had to wait three years to come face to face once again, but it felt like yesterday to see colleagues all together in the familiar congress centre in beautiful Lisboa. As always, EHS is thankful for the booth supplied by EFORT and to all who stopped by to touch base.

The Jacques Duparc Award from EFORT includes a grant of €500 plus a certificate, and is selected from the 10 best-rated poster abstracts. Winner for the topic “Orthopaedics, Pelvis, Hip & Femur, Epidemiology, Prevention & Diagnosis” was awarded to two EHS Members from The Ottawa Hospital in Canada and their colleagues: Prof Paul Beaule and Dr George Grammatopoulos for:-

Also, the “Silver Orthopaedics Abstract” went to “Minimization Of Movement Restrictions After Total Hip Arthroplasty Does Not Increase Hip Dislocations. A Before-And-After Study With 10357 Patients” by EHS Member Rudolf Poolman and colleagues from OLVG, Amsterdam, The Netherlands in the topic “Orthopaedics, Pelvis, Hip & Femur, Joint Replacement – Primary”. Also, Eduardo Garcia-Rey of the EHS EduCom and a colleague were Awarded a “Special Mention” for his Poster on “The Cumulative risk of dislocation after Total Hip Arthroplasty: 2732 hips followed for a minimum of 5 years”.
