Dear EHS Members,

An incredible year in orthopaedics culminated for me in an outstanding trip to Japan and Hong Kong. Both Orthopaedic Societies made me very welcome and I learnt a lot from the excellent surgeons I met and discussed the future of orthopaedics with.

Although USA is our esteemed Guest Nation at our 16th EHS Congress in Thessaloniki 16-17 October 2025, we will also honour Japan (EHS Guest Nation 2023) and hold a very nice session. The whole scientific programme looks great and is almost ready for circulation in the New Year.

Meanwhile, our Secretary General Prof Bondarenko was in USA attending the AAHKS meeting and touching base with our EHS International Members there.

We are delighted to announce the winners for our EHS Visiting Fellowship to Spain 2025: Dr Stikjn Bolink (Netherlands) & Dr Andrea D’Amelio (Italy). Competition was fierce and Prof Atilla, Chairman of our EHS EduCom, took a selection of candidates through to interview stage. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the other applicants – we encourage them to try again next time.

Please enjoy the report from our EHS Visiting Fellowship to Ireland HERE. Thanks to all our hosts and to the fellows themselves, Dr Ana Ferrao (Portugal) & Dr Juan Miguel Rodríguez Roiz (Spain) for this extensive and pleasurable report.

We welcome two new members, Prof Moussah Hamadouche from Paris, France, and Mr Michael Wyatt from Forster, Australia (originally a European), who is the new Editor in Chief of EHS’s journal, Hip International. We look forward to building a closer relationship with the journal through his appointment.

Prof Johannes Bastian, EHS EduCom Member from Switzerland, is Guest Editing a special issue in the Journal of Clinical Medicine on the Orthogeriatric Fracture Syndrome and Hip Periprosthetic Fractures, and invites our members to contribute HERE.

Our EHS Webinar Series 2024 “New frontiers & New Technologies in Hip Surgery” was successfully organised by Dr Oliver Marin-Pena and we thank him for his hard work, as well as all our expert speakers who gave their time and top talks on Hip Trauma Surgery (pelvic & acetabular fractures, proximal femoral fractures and periprosthetic fractures), Hip Arthroplasty and Primary THA, and included: Mr Syed Ahmed (UK), Dr Femi Ayeni (Canada), Prof Johannes Bastian (Switzerland), Prof Francesco Benazzo (Italy), Prof Stanislav Bondarenko (Ukraine), Dr Lewis PK Chan (Hong Kong), Prof Mustafa Citak (Germany), Dr Pedro Dantas (Portugal), Prof Jenaro Fernandez-Valencia, Prof Fares Haddad (UK), Mr Vikas Khanduja (UK), Prof Sebastien Lustig (France), Prof Maziar Mohaddes (Sweden), Dr Olga Pidgaiska (Ukraine/Germany), Prof Nicolas Reina (France), Dr Nicola Santori (Italy), Dr Ramesh Sen (India), Dr Simon Steppacher (Switzerland), Dr Marc Tey (Spain), Prof Eleftherios Tsiridis (Greece), Dr Stephan Vehmeijer (The Netherlands), Dr Michael Wettstein (Switzerland), Mr Matthew Wilson (UK) and Prof Luigi Zagra (Italy).
